She has divorced and ended her connection with us around 2011 when dad let the premises to Mr Sumbul back then. Ever since we (dad and me) stopped the day to day running of the business premises i think no one has even renewed the yearly fee for selling alcohol in the premises. I have attached some documents of the recent tenant who probably had connection with the drugs ( since now he is no where to be found). Where this afrocarribean lady wants to rent the premises and use it as a restaurant in my opinion its best to keep the premises licence. Dad is too ill to keep on chasing these men using the premises for other uses other than what is permitted. I try my best with keeping up with the tenants living upstairs. Hopefully this lady is the way forward as a way of combating antisocail behaviour or what ever it was with the drug matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any information you may need. I am including Mrs Barrett in this correspondence as she is Haringey Council Licensing Officer and responsible for the venues Premises Licence. As discussed I phoned your father, Huseyin Karakus, as he is the Premises Licence holder for West Green Pool Hall and he has requested you assist with translation. The Premises Licence relates to the authority to sell Alcohol, have regulated entertainment and Late Night Refreshment under the Licensing Act 2003. Mr Karakus stated he was aware of the closure of the premises and wished to re-open it once the order lapsed. You mentioned your family had been involved with the venue for some time but had sublet it a few years ago due to your fathers health concerns. You stated he resides in Bethnal Green and not in West Green Road. You stated you were aware of the concerns at the venue and West Green Road in general. Obviously we need to ensure that licensed premises are run without adversely affecting the Licensing Objectives relating to Prevention of Crime and Disorder and Public Nuisance. It would appear that Mr Karakus has had little control over the venue for some years. You mentioned the Police activity caused by allegations of drug dealing connected with the venue and the search warrant executed on 6th September 2019 at the venue where a large quantity of drugs were found. A Closure Order was applied for under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 and granted. We need to look at the future of the venue as a licensed premises and consider if a Review under the Licensing Act 2003 requesting the Premises Licence is revoked is reasonable. You mentioned a local business owner wishes to lease the property to run it as an Afro-Caribbean restaurant. With regards the venues Premises Licence Melik Celik is listed as ‘Designated Premises Supervisor’. I will need to speak with Melik about his / her connection with the premises over the last couple of years. If Melik is no longer connected with the premises please let me know and approximately for how long. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
